Pier 99
The Founder of Pier 99, Mike Astin, built the place himself over the span of two decades, adding a little more each year in an effort to serve more guests great seafood at a reasonable price. Mike believed in North Beach and saw a day when the world would rediscover one of the most special waterfront settings in the country. Sadly, we lost the beloved captain of our ship in 2012 and the future of Pier 99 seemed uncertain. Mikes wife Andrea and his daughter Ava, with the support of a family of staff and the most loyal customers and supporters, have managed to carry on Mikes dream to be part of the best years for North Beach. Today, he surely looks down with a smile, knowing that those times are soon ahead.
